Coated Stylets/Mandrels
The Merit proprietary spool-to-spool coating process provides extremely uniform coatings for medical device components.
With proven control over coating thickness, Merit guarantees a consistent diameter and tight tolerances. Merit's cost effective PTFE coating is available on wire in a variety of materials, diameters and lengths.
Coated extrusion mandrel wire using Merit's low-friction coatings is frequently used to produce high-end medical tubing with well-defined tight tolerance ID's. Coated Stainless Steel or nitinol welding mandrels with uniform diameter and tight tolerances allow more design freedom for catheter tube ID's and improve release properties.
The unique coating process also allows Merit to apply its PTFE coatings onto nitinol without compromising its elastic properties. Many other applications are possible with the coated wire and mandrels, which are available in a variety of colors, either straightened on spool, or dead-straight and cut to length.
